This week, some Canadians who qualify may get multiple government benefit payments in their bank accounts.
Payments for the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) will be sent out on Thursday, March 19. Payments for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) and its Ontario and B.C. counterparts will be deposited on Friday, March 20.
This is who can get these government benefits and how much they could get.
Canada’s Disability Benefit
This government program, which started taking applications last year, helps Canadians aged 18 to 64 who have a disability and live with it.
Canadians can still apply online for the CDB, even though applications opened last June. If you meet the requirements, the government will start sending you money the month after your application is approved.
To be able to apply for the CDB, you need to meet a number of requirements.
Service Canada would have sent letters to Canadians who qualify inviting them to apply for the Canada Disability Benefit. The letter has a six-digit code that is different from any other code and tells you how to apply.
If you didn’t get a letter, you can still apply for the benefit if you and your spouse or common-law partner both filed your 2024 federal income tax return.
You must be one of the following to be eligible:
- A person from Canada
- A resident for life
- A temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the last 18 months
- A person who is safe
- A person who is registered or has the right to be registered under the Indian Act
You can also apply if you live in Canada and are between the ages of 18 and 64 and have already been approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
The amount you get depends on a number of things, including your family’s net income.
The most you can get in payments from July 2025 to June 2026 is $2,400, which is $200 a month. The amount will change every year to keep up with inflation and the cost of living.

You might even be able to get back payments for the last few months. Payments can go back as far as 24 months from the date you send in your application. But it doesn’t work for months before June 2025.
The Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) indexation increase for 2026 will have an effect on the CDB. This means that payments will go up in July, which is the start of the benefit year.
Benefit for Children in Canada
Families that qualify can get the CCB, a tax-free monthly payment, to help pay for raising kids under 18.
In July 2025, the start of the new benefit year, Canadian families saw a 2.7% increase in their child tax payments. Indexation is a process that the federal government uses to raise the payment to help parents as the cost of living keeps going up.
The yearly payments for kids under six went up from $7,787 to $7,997, which is $666 a month. For people with kids between the ages of six and seventeen, this means that their yearly payment will go up from $6,570 to $6,748, or $562 a month.
In July, the Child Disability Benefit (CDB) also went up from $3,322 to $3,411.
The two percent indexation increase means that Canadian parents can expect another CCB and CDB rise in July 2026.
The CRA says that the base child benefit for a child under six in 2026 will be $8,157. This is $160 more than the $7,997 it was in 2025. Next year, the base benefit for kids aged six to 17 will be $6,883, which is $135 more than this year.
The CDB’s maximum benefit amount in 2026 will be $3,480, which is $69 more than the $3,411 it was in 2025. This is because of the two percent indexation increase. This year, you can also look into other government benefits and credits that will go up.
You can find out if your family can get Canada’s child tax benefit by taking the government’s test. Families in British Columbia and Ontario will also get their provincial child benefits on Friday.
